What is MCYTBLR AU Fest? MCYTBLR AU Fest is a reverse minibang-type event where writers and artists come together to create fanworks centred on MCYT and set in an alternate universe from canon.

How does it work? Artists will have a month to complete an art piece. After a month, once the art is complete, they will submit the art, with information about server, characters, relationships, and any warnings they are opting into, which will be posted anonymously for writers to view and claim, first-come-first-serve. Teams are assigned by mods, and then writers will have two months of creation time to make a pice inspired by the work (minimum 5k words).

What type of MCYT is included? We welcome creations based on any SMP, whether or not they have a canon tag on Ao3. Mianite, DSMP, QSMP, Hermitcraft, 3rd Life, Lifesteal, Witchcraft SMP— it’s all welcome. 

Can I join if my Art is a Game/Web Weave? We welcome all types of art— web weave, game, traditional art, original songs, videos, etc. While the list is not exhaustive, we have outlined some of the baseline expectations for an art piece below.

What are the requirements for art? It is difficult to define precise expectations for art pieces, especially given the broad realm of things that could count as art. We are primarily looking for art that is complete to a level that you would normally post as "finished", ready to inspire a fic piece of 5k or more, containing an audio or visual component beyond the confines of the written word, that does not take more than an hour to consume. While you will have the opportunity to include your understanding of the world in things such as if the relationships depicted are romantic or not, the art piece must stand alone without explanatory text or extra worldbuilding.

The defined requirements for different forms of art are:

Digital or Traditional art: one piece, completed to whatever you would normally post as "finished", ready to inspire a fanfic.

Web Weaves: a web weave of at least ten elements, original or properly credited.

Video/animatic: a video at least 30 seconds long.

Other Art Form: other art forms such as fan games or original songs would fall under this category. If you wanted to sign up with an Other art form, you need to contact the mod team and work out what minimum expectations would be for your art.

Is shipping allowed? Yes. Because there is no broad fandom-wide consensus about how Creator boundaries are to be enforced in specific cases (whether it's okay to write beeduo as /r or /p is an obvious one, or whether it’s permitted to ship Joel Smallishbeans) or between specific fandoms (Lifesteal approach to shipping and boundaries is different from HBG is different from DSMP), the mods will not be policing any specific understanding of boundaries across the event. The event's motivating ethos is Don't Like Don't Read, in that artists will be able to specify for themselves if a given relationship is to be interpreted as romantic or platonic, and writers will choose to opt into that, and NSFW will have to be specifically opted into on both sides.

Is NSFW allowed? Yes. NSFW works are allowed, but must be opted into, both in terms of viewing art and in terms of creating fic. No one under 18 is permitted to opt into NSFW and attempts to do so will be grounds for a ban from this event and anywhere else the mod team touches. For the comfort of the greatest number of participants, and to conform with Tumblr TOS, anything with the tags Underage or Incest will not be permitted to be part of the event. 

Are major archive warnings (noncon/graphic depictions of violence/MCD) allowed? Aside from the content rules governing NSFW (no underage or incest, for the comfort of the greatest number of participants), major archive warnings are allowed. Depictions of real life horrors such as genocide and slavery are not-uncommon motifs in MCYT fics, and the mod team is not interested in legislating which types of horrors, griefs or abuses are inherently worse than others and are therefore off-limits. Because holding writing to a quality standard or saying only survivors can write atrocities is unworkable from a moderation standpoint, the three mentioned major archive warnings (MCD, Graphic Depictions of Violence, Noncon), are permitted to be included.

However, Major Archive Warnings must be explicitly opted into by the artist, and writers are free to not include Major Archive Warnings that their artist has permitted. Delivering un-asked for major archive warnings is grounds for a ban from this event. The mod team reserves the right to warn other mod teams on both the MCYT and Multi-fandom side about your bad behaviour.

What kind of an information will I provide as an Artist? How long or detailed? Artists will be able to specify

the server their art takes place on

the characters in the work

whether the relationships in the work are romantic, platonic, or could be interpreted either way

if they are okay with NSFW work

what age group of people they are okay working with

the type of AU it is

any content warnings present in the work already (i.e. gore, eyestrain, child death)

if the work is nsfw

any major archive warnings they are okay with happening in the story

common fandom themes and/or triggering content that they are okay with happening in the story.

What sort of fandom themes will I specify? While this will not be an exhaustive list of every possible triggering concept, the mods want artists to be able to specify if they are okay with dynamics that circulate in the fandom that may be triggering or people simply may have strong opinions on, and for writers to be able to sort by that. Some of the themes include domestic abuse, alcoholism, family dynamics, pregnancy, dubcon, torture, body horror, dehumanization, child death, non-consensual touching, drugging, etc.

What is a DNW?

Artists will have the opportunity to fill out a DNW, which stands for Do Not Want. This is anything that has the potential to ruin a fic for you, and is where you opt out of content that would trigger, squick, or just render the gift unreadable for you. DNWs must be phrased politely, (so no "No foster aus because they suck and you suck if you like them"), and they must be reasonable, (so no "no blood/injury" if the art depicted shows injury, and no attempting to box someone into a specific gift beyond what is depicted in the art, so no "dnw anything that isn't a modern au where scar is a theatre teacher and grian is a biology teacher and they live in a city named hermitopia and grian has a situationship with mumbo and scarian has a rivalry at a coffee shop for the half-price muffins and jellie has psychic powers she's manipulating the muffin market with" if that is not clear from the art), and they must be specific and clear, (so no “no triggering content"), but they can be as petty (disliking 1st person) or as broad-reaching (no modern aus, no specific ships not depicted, no crossovers with specific servers or fics) as you like. Deliberately breaking someone's DNW is grounds for a ban from the exchange. 

Is Dark/Violent content allowed? As long as it is something that the artist has not opted out of, yes. For many of us, the source material that originally drew us to the fandom includes major character death, torture, murder-for-hire, death games, public executions, child death and more. The fanfiction that arose from the source material follows in that trend. We will allow dark content to be part of the event, but it must be tagged for. 

We also ask that participants use best judgement in delivering commonly triggering topics un-asked for. We reserve the right to ban people at mod's discretion for delivering unrequested triggering content, under the "do not be an asshole" rule.

Moreover, if your fic is rated E for any reason, (including violence or gore) your entire team must be 18+.

What is a Pinch Hitter? A pinch hitter is a person who saves the day and steps in when the original creator is unable to deliver their work for whatever reason, making a new work on an accelerated timeline. You must reach the minimum word count of 5k. . 

When do I have to join the discord? You have the option to join the dicord and hang out as soon as creation starts on May 4, and if you are an artist, you must join before sign-ups close on May 31. If you are a writer, you must join the discord before claims begin on June 1st. If you are a Beta Reader, we'd ask that you join before claims begin on June 9th.

How does team assignment/claims work? We will release a document with all the art pieces linked in it, and 24 hours afterwards we will release a sign-up form. Writers will be expected to list out out a top-five of artists they want to work with, and mods will match writers with art on a first-come-first-served basis.

How does Beta Reader assignment work? Shortly after writer sign-ups end, writers who wish to sign up for Beta Readers will be able to do so. In a similar way to how writers claimed art, beta readers will be given a list of summaries and then, 24 hours later, will be able to submit a short list of fics they want to help work on. Beta readers will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

What happens if there are more artists than authors, or more authors than artists? If there are more writers, some artists will be assigned multiple writers. If there are more artists, we will put in place a question where writers can specify that they’d be willing to make multiple pieces, and a (hopefully small) number of writers would be assigned multiple teams. 

What if all the artists I list have already been assigned? If every artist you wish to opt into has already been assigned, mods will contact you and ask if you wish to be matched to people who have not yet been claimed. You will then be able to choose if you wish to claim other teams, or wait and hope that there will be more writers than artists, and multiple writers on a team will be opened up. If that happens, you can re-submit your list and be assigned as a writer to one of your original artists.

I’m in [insert time zone here]. What if I’m not awake when claims open? There will be a spot to input your time zone in the discord. Mods will try to open the claims at a time that works for as many writers as possible. The art pieces will also be available for 24 hours before claims so that everyone can view them and pick out the ones that are the most interesting to them. We will aim for claims to open between 7 a.m. and 1 a.m. for as many writers as possible across all time zones. If claims fall outside that zone for you, you’ll be able to contact a mod and we’ll work out an alternative method for claims for you. 

I don’t know what time zone I’m in? Go to timeanddate.com and enter the nearest major city, and it will tell you your current time zone.

What’s a check-in and how do they work? Check-ins are there to make sure everyone is on track to finish their piece in time, and to communicate any issues with the mods! If you know that you won’t be able to check in on a specific date (lack of internet, etc), please contact the mods in advance.

How long should my fic be? The minimum word count is 5,000 words! There is no maximum word count, but we ask you to be mindful of how much you can actually create in these two months. 

If I wrote a multi-chapter work, do I have to have it all posted by the end of Posting Period? You must post your work in its entirety by the end of the two-week posting period.

What does AU mean in this context? AU stands for Alternate Universe and in this case means anything that would make the work not able to be tagged as canon compliant. Alternate endings, role reversals, complete setting or plot swaps, and crossovers all count. As this is a fest specifically to celebrate AUs, we ask that the AU be a significant and celebrated part of the work, not something that could be skipped if you aren’t paying attention. 

Can I create two fics for my artist? Absolutely! There is no maximum for number of fics you want to create, but again, be mindful of not biting off more than you can chew two months of creation time.  Can I post just the first chapter of a longer fic/Can I use AI to help me with my piece? All fics must be complete (no missing chapters or truncated scenes) and created specifically for this event, inspired by the art claimed at the beginning of the creation period. Writers and Artists must create their work themself. Works may not be wholly or partially created by generative text or art programs (so-called "AI") such as chatGPT or OpenArt.ai. Works may not be wholly or partially duplicated from other works, and may not contain substantial repeated material included in an effort to boost word count (such as paragraphs or comics panels that are copied with minor variations).

Can I sign up with two pieces of art? You are welcome to sign up as part of the fest with multiple art pieces. However, if you do so, we will ask that you prioritize which art piece you want to be matched on first, and you will only receive a match to your secondary art piece after everyone else has an writer. We’re going to proritize every particpant getting a team before we prioritize every art piece getting a team.

Can I sign up with a multi-piece art piece? If you want to sign up with a web weave that features multiple panels, a long video, a long comic, a series of connected art pieces, a song cycle, or any other more complex/more ornate work, you are welcome to. We just ask that you make sure you can complete your art piece during the month of artist creation time, and keep in mind that if your piece is sufficiently complex, that might restrict the writers who are able to sign up for your piece. But if you think you can pull it off, then go for it.

Can I sign up with a writing buddy— as part of a collab team? You are welcome to sign up as a collaborative team, either an art team or a writing team! We ask that you make sure you work together well, and when you sign up for an team, you must declare that you’re a duo, so people know that they’ll be getting multiple team members and not one. 

Can I submit an art piece that is part of a larger AU? All art pieces must stand alone, so you can't have it that your writer has to consider other art pieces to make a work. The art must also be made specifically for the event. We ask that you not submit an art piece that was made prior to the event, or one that is part of an au you've posted about so often that it will effectively de-anon you. Brainstorming or sketching early is fine.

Once my art piece is done, when can I post it? Art and fic should be posted together, during the Posting Period at the beginning of August. Once you have your art done, you'll have to hold onto it for another two months, while your writer is working.

What if I need to drop out? It is your responsibility to communicate with us if you need to drop out of the event for any reason, and we do need that communication. We know that life is no respecter of fic and art deadlines, so no hard feelings if something happens. However, we would hate for any artist to end up having no fic for their art, so please think about this if you are thinking of dropping out close to reveals. Dropping out after the last check-in without informing the mods will result in not being permitted to take part in further events run by this mod team.

The only problem with being in a small village in the middle of the desert is there are very few places to hide. As you run, you turn a corner around a sandstone building into an alleyway. Luckily, there’s a pile of crates with a small enough hole for you to hide. Crawling into the space, you try to stay as quiet as possible while also catching your breath. You’re worried your panting will be too loud. You clutch your bag close to you, not wanting to lose the contents again. Having found what seems to be an extremely valuable artifact, you have tried desperately to get it back after it had been stolen. You had reported the chunk of crystal to the Assembly, and they said it’s possibly valuable enough to bring to headquarters. But, while you were camping out, about a third of the way through a four-day journey, your camp was ransacked, and your crystal stolen. You followed the thieves that turned out to essentially be a gang, and you took it back. They had found you though and have been chasing you for a good hour. They obviously understand the crystal's value if they’re pursuing you so intently. Peeking around the crates, you see a few of the goons run down the street past the alley, but you aren’t brave enough to get away yet.

"Fuck!" You shriek, a hand grabs your braid at the base, hauling you out of your hiding hole. Your hands grapple at his, trying to get him to let you go, legs scrambling on the ground.

"You stupid bitch-" He grumbles, yanking your hair harder till you fall back against his legs.

"Where's the rock?" He snaps and you just glare up at him, not wanting him to realize if you were to look at your bag. You grunt at the tug on your hair, but immediately stop wiggling when you feel something metal press against your neck.

"If I get this back from you, the boss might just promote me-"

"Kind of hard to get a promotion with an extra hole in your head." A new voice speaks, and you can feel the gangster freeze behind you, the knife pressed to your neck retreating slightly. You assume this new man has pressed his own weapon, a blaster most likely, against the guy's head.

"Drop the knife." This new man's voice is steady, strong, and you feel safe already. You hear the blade clatter on the ground, and the hold on your braid releases, so you scramble away from the gangster. Instead of going forward, you basically crawl around and behind the aggressor, and stop once you’re safely behind your rescuer. Just from behind, you can tell he’s strong, his bare arms show his biceps are nearly as big as your thigh, maybe bigger. Smooth geometric tattoos paint his arms, looking similar to a circuit board. His hair is bright red, slicked back just enough to keep the longer strands out of his face, the ends resting just above his shoulders. He has a belt strapped around his torso over his vest, various things attached to it along with several ammo cartridges. Another strap around one of his thick thighs has the holster for his blaster and his pants are tucked into a pair of knee-high combat boots.

"Now screw off before you can't." The man pulls his blaster away, but literally kicks the guy's ass, sending him onto his face a few feet forward. The gangster scrambles to his feet and flees. Once he’s gone, the man before you turns around finally, and your breath leaves you right after you had caught it back. He’s fucking gorgeous. You wonder if the slit in his eyebrow is from a scar, or just for looks, it’s hard to tell in the dark light.

"Are you okay, doll?" He kneels in front of you, even like that you feel tiny…Tinier than usual. You wonder if he can see your reddened face in the low light.

"Y-yes." You nod, letting him wrap his hands around your arms to help you stand up. Your own hands go to his biceps, trying hard not to squeeze to test the muscle there, and your shaking legs finally get you up. You wish he didn’t have the leather gloves on so you could feel more of his bare skin on yours. After you’re both up, the top of your head only reaches his chin, and he smells good-

"Why were they after you?" he asks, and you have to step back to look at him even with your head tipped up.

"Uh…" You aren’t sure if he’s trustworthy, even if he saved you. Maybe he just wants the crystal for himself…

"It's okay, doll. I'm a Ranger." He pulls the chain around his neck up and out of his shirt, an upside-down triangle-like designed pendant on the end. You recognize it, and the title, so you relax. They’re basically freelance, vigilante, bounty-hunter guys. They help people in need and take out or get criminals without having to worry about legal red tape. It’s an elite group, and their identities are not widely known. Sighing in relief at the news, you open your satchel and pull the crystal out. It isn’t refined and it’s pretty heavy. You hand the rock to him, and he looks it over, holding it easily with one hand while he holsters his blaster. The thin but tight black shirt he has on under his utility vest struggles over his chest as he does so, when he speaks you finally bring your attention away.

"This is a diamond, doll." He smiles and your jaw drops. No wonder it’s so valuable. That makes sense why the Assembly Headquarters wants it, they have the largest bank on the planet.

"Seriously?"

"Yep." He once again holds the gem in one hand, pulling a device out of a pocket of his utility belt. The Ranger clicks the end against the gem and looks at the panel on the side as the device beeped.

"About 13 hundred carats." He smirks, arching one of his thick eyebrows.

"Where'd you find this?"

"I'm a Scavenger, so I look for scrap and crashed ships or satellites. This was in some wreckage out near Dekkos." you tell him, a bit surprised he hands the gem back to you.

"Are you bringing it to the capital?"

"Yes."

"You’ll probably have more of those gangsters plus anyone else who finds out after you, why don't I escort you?"

"You’d do that?"

"Of course, doll. I'm Seungcheol, but my team calls me S.Coups."

"S.Coups?" you question, and he chuckles, a bit embarrassed.

"Uh, the S is for Seungcheol, and then coups like coup-d'état."

"You overthrow someone?"

"Well, kind of. Our first mission was to get a corrupt mayor out of power, so…" He smiles, somehow his extremely handsome face looks cute.

"Are you sure you don't mind escorting me?"

"I told you," he leans forward so he’s more eye level, "of course I don't mind."

"Can I calls you Cheol?" you ask him, his name is kind of long and you aren’t sure about his nick name…

"Of course, doll. What do I call you?" You tell him your name in response and when he says it with a smile, your ovaries explode.

"I know it’s late, but I was planning on getting to the next town over, it's about an hour, is that okay?" he asks you as you follow him to the main street and toward the edge of the village. You wrap the diamond up in a head scarf you have and tuck it back in your satchel. Cheol suggests you grab your stuff from your rover and leave it for the time being, since more goons might know it's yours. He won’t even let you carry your own bag.

"That diamond is enough for you to carry, (Y/N)." When you get to his rover, you halt in shock. Not only is it new, but it’s a really nice model too. Yours is nearly thirty years old and is not exactly top of the line, even new.

"Oh, this belongs to the whole group. I just have it most of the time since I'm the leader."

"You're the leader?" You hadn't known that.

"Well, kind of. I'm co-commander along with Woozi." He opens the passenger door for you, and you climb up onto the wheel and into the rover. The seats are nice, and actually seats versus what looks like a restaurant booth. The inside panels are just flat holo-screens, and it even has heating. Your rover only has air conditioning, so at night it can be kind of cold. You ask him a series of questions as you drive to the next town, and he answers each one humbly. Your eyes keeps flitting to his hands on the steering wheel, then up his arms and trace every line of his tattoos, to his side profile-

"Your eyes might burn me, doll." He tries not to smirk, casting you a knowing side glance. You flounder for an excuse.

"It’s fine, sweetheart." Seungcheol rests back in the seat and you shuffle in your own seat, your face not the only part of you heating up. By the time you reach the next town, all you want to do is get in bed, and maybe get him inside you…

"Do you mind sharing a hotel room, I can keep you safer that way." His suggestion is genuine, truly just wanting to protect you. And you’re more than willing.

"That's fine!"

Seungcheol smirks, walking past you into the hotel, one much nicer than the inns or motels you usually stay at. You cringe at your own eagerness, following after him with your head bowed in embarrassment.

"Can we get a suite with two bedrooms?" He pulls his credit chit out; the hotelier taps on her console telling you there’s one available on the fifth floor. You watch her as she works, and she keeps looking up at Seungcheol and all over him. She isn’t blind, you don’t blame her. He takes the room, and you balk at the price.

"Don't worry, doll." He casts you a gentle smile, so you don’t. Judging by his rover, even if he claimed it’s the whole group's, he has money to spare. You follow after him, casting a glance back at the hotelier who is glaring at you. Wanting to stick your tongue out at her like a child, you restrain yourself and wait for the elevator with him. Right as the lift is reaching the ground floor, a group of about seven enters and head toward the elevators as well. Because of this, the lift is full, and you press your small self into the corner, Seungcheol working as a barrier between you and the group of men that have entered as well. You doubt they even know you’re there. They have left the button pressed for the fifth floor, and you both wait for them to get out, then head in the opposite direction. He taps the clear card against the lock, and it dings, opening with a click. He carries both of your bags in, and you look around the suite in awe, never having stayed somewhere so nice.

"I'm going to shower quick." Seungcheol deposits your bag in one of the bedrooms and heads toward the other. There’s a bathroom attached to each room and so you follow suit. Only taking a rinse off since you showered the night before, you find yourself watching some show on the couch. You had changed into shorts and a tank instead of your leather leggings and vest. Your knees are pulled to your chest, feet resting on the cushion, and you’re really trying to focus on the show. It’s so hard though to not think of him in the shower. He’s too freaking hot and there’s only a door in between you and him. Naked-

"Fucking fuck…" You huff at yourself, trying to snap out of your pervy thoughts, but it’s futile. Especially since he’s just come out in nothing but his pants. At least he isn’t just in a towel, but his muscular and toned body is perfectly on display. He has more of the circuit-like tattoos curling up over his shoulders and down his chest and sides of his stomach. You noticed earlier not only are his arms and thighs thick, but he has a butt too. Fuck. He sees you gaping at him, it’s kind of hard not to. It’s like you’ve zoned out…or in rather, on him and he huffs a laugh, a bit embarrassed. "You curious?"

"Come here, then." Seungcheol smiles and he nearly guffaws at how fast you leap off the couch, but you approach much slower. You stop right before him, hand coming up and hovering over his skin. You flit your gaze up to his face and he nods, taking a sip out of the bottle he’s holding. As soon as your fingertips meet his warm skin, the other hand flies up and you bring them down to rest on his abs.

"Fucking hell." You whisper and he really tries not to laugh, but you can feel his chest rumble a bit. Tracing each curve and angle of the tattoos snaking over him, you notice they seem to let out a slight reddish glow, lagging behind your tracing fingers over the black lines. Your mouth is hanging open as you touch him, likes he’s the best thing you’ve ever had the pleasure of feeling, and he smirks harder. Getting annoy with his smugness, even though it’s warranted and caused by you, you dig your dull nails in a bit and scratch down. Seungcheol sighs, a low groan rumbling out after and your cunt clenches around nothing.

What: A Disco Elysium larp for around 100 players.

When: 18-22 & 25-29 September 2024 (1 day of workshops, 2 days of play)

Where: Old Military Hospital, Terezín (Czech Republic)

Cost: €290 €145

Language: English

Location: Old military hospital, in the middle of the city. Indoors and outdoors environment. Location has basic amenities (toilets, water etc) but don’t expect high standard (no central heating).

Accessibility: Not wheel chair friendly (no elevators, stairs, thresholds). Very sensitive allergies or asthmatics may have problems with the environment.

Time: Players will be required to be in Terezín on Wednesday evening, for a full day of workshops, briefings, player meetings and co-creation. The game itself will start on Thursday afternoon and run until Saturday afternoon — with less intense or no play at all for night time sleeping (players choice).

Costumes & props: Key costume elements and key props will be provided. You bring a base layer, shoes, and any extra props you want. Costumes and props are mostly attainable by modern second-hand shopping.

Food & drink: Scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner (served in-game). We will provide water, tea, and vegetarian food, with the whole menu available beforehand, allowing people to bring food to address their allergies and special needs.

Design stuff

Potential content warnings: Racism, violence, physical larping, political extremism, loud noises, realistic firearms, drug use, oppression, suicide, actual work.

Design & play style: Immersive experience grounded in a poetic world. Expect some scripted stories in the form of fateplay and collaborative rather than competitive play. Individual character-specific plots. Not full transparency. Some non-diegetic meta-techniques.

Sign up process: Lottery system with certain conditions applied by organisers. Upon selection in the lottery, players pay the participation fee and receive full character and access to the participant website. Players will have option to signal they are uncomfortable playing with somebody or think somebody is not safe to be at the event.

Co-creation: Pre-written characters. Act structure with some specific limitations and/or mechanics; otherwise, players have the freedom to create. Players are not expected to prepare or create relations, have meetings, partake in events, etc., before the event. Lore is established by organisers, and players act within provided frames. There is an established overarching arc for the larp, with some set events. Artist characters will be creating art during the game.

Physical & emotional safety: Opt-out techniques & safety techniques. Some themes, mechanics or content of the larp are very general and not opt-outable (for example, “poverty”). Mechanics for violence and fighting that lean more towards simple conflict resolution than boffer fighting. Dedicated organisers on premises for safety, medical, and emotional support. Calibration and escalation/de-escalation techniques will be workshopped and encouraged.

What will we be doing: Playing out conflicts, romances, brawls, revealing secrets from the past, pursuing political goals, dealing with community problems. Creating art, music, weird performances, or just striving to have a normal, working family. The slice-of-life approach means that work is also part of the game. Most players will have 2-3 hours of some form of “work” to perform each day (not very physically taxing). Scheduled and spontaneous activities in the characters’ social groups (hobbies, families, politics, interest groups, etc.). Socialising, trading, scheming or just chilling and people-watching. There will be plenty of low-threshold activities on-site for everyone to be involved in if interested. Our aim is to create a living, breathing world. Everyone will be able to get 8 hours of sleep.

For the past Few Years I've been building a list of Jacob Geller videos that represent the fifteen Fears in The Magnus Archives.

Today he released a video that finally completed my list.

Here's the list, in the order of the fears on the TMA wiki (most of which have links. Some of the videos are age restricted, so I can't post working links here).

THE BURIED: Fear of Depths While this concept may at first seem more aligned with The Vast, the video surrounds a motif of needing to go Deeper. Of a cave or darkness surrounding you completely, burying you. It also follows a few stories of people getting stuck in caves.

THE CORRUPTION: Gross Games About Flesh And Stuff "But Orthus!" you cry. "The word flesh is literally in the name!" You would be right! But one of the games this video heavily features (Perfect Vermin) is about cancer, and the slow painful progression of it! It's arguable if How Fish Is Made is corruption aligned fully, but since it features a tongue eating louse, I'm saying it counts too.

THE DARK: Fear of Dark As of writing this, Fear of Dark was released four hours ago, completing this list. I was so stumped on this one until literally twenty minutes ago. Thank you, Mr Geller. This one is self explanatory I think. Yes, I haven't finished watching it. I don't care. I know it's a banger already.

THE DESOLATION: Returnal is a Hell of Our Own Creation Yes, this video isn't about fire. But The Desolation isn't just fire. It's about pain, it's about loss, it's about cruel destruction. And Returnal is about the horrible cycle of grief after catastrophic loss. To me, it fits.

THE END: Fear of Cold Usually the "fear of" videos on this list are pretty straightforwards but I feel like this requires some explanation. This video is about cold, but it's also about dying from cold and the lengths that people will go to, however painful, to avoid death. Lots of Geller videos are about mortality. This one hits extra hard though.

THE EYE: Control, Anatomy, and the Legacy of the Haunted House Houses can't watch someone, but Oh Boy do the games in this video make it feel like they can! There's something so fitting about this idea for The Eye. No matter where you are in a house, you're always in its walls. If it's perceiving you, there's nowhere to escape that. Banger video. Also banger games.

THE FLESH: Head Transplants and the Non-Existence of the Soul This one is a bit more of a stretch, I'll admit. But here's my defence: it deals with the separation of the body and the soul, the treatment of the body as just a vessel for our minds. Vivisection is absolutely something aligned with The Flesh. So I think this one fits here. The video is age restricted and so I can't put it here. There's a content warning in it that I very much recommend heeding.

THE HUNT: The Decade-Long Quest for Shadow of the Colossus’ Last Secret Another one that was a bit of a challenge for me to figure out. I do think the essence is here, but it's definitely not fear based. I think it's more the desperation, the blind belief in the hunt itself to the point where it becomes about the process, not the end goal. Spaces online around theories like this often get pretty toxic, and this is no exception. Naysayers are ridiculed and shunned, etc etc. So I think this fits. It's also just a fun video.

THE LONELY: Gaming’s Harshest Architecture: NaissancE and Alienation/ Cities Without People/ Artificial Loneliness You get three videos for this one! Hopefully that makes up for the head transplant video link not working. Cities Without People and Artificial Loneliness have sort of the same vibe going in terms of Why They're Lonely. Gaming's Harshest Architecture is my favourite for this entry though. God I love hostile landscapes. I love places that weren't built for people. Just the forced alienation of those games is PERFECTION. I love all of these videos.

So could we get a breakdown of what all the counselors do? Also, are the bois over certain cabins? Like Warriors cabin 3, Legend cabin 2, etc. Etc. Or is more like they're over their station and the campers just move between stations?

okay, fair warning... this might get a little long!

wild's sheet is the only one... done...... and actually needs to be...... redone. but he's in charge of archery, most of the meals, and survivalist/wildlife survival classes (which are required for all the campers to take)

both he and hyrule are the ones leading the survivalist classes, although they almost always have one of the other counselors with them, due to the fact that 20+ kids are tricky to keep on task for two people in the middle of the forest.

he and malon get along well, and she comes over sometimes to help feed the campers, but is ultimately pretty busy with the ranch. whenever there's a field trip to lon lon, they make lunch for the campers and catch up.

occasionally he and twilight will team up for horse riding lessons when there's a group larger than 5 being taught at one time.

i don't talk about warriors enough!! and i should. he's usually a cabin counselor, which means he's in charge of one of the cabins housing the sleepaway kids!

he's a bit of a denmother and spends a lot of his time making sure his campers are doing well.

see how legend has a red and white shirt and some of the campers have that same color scheme but flipped? well, that's to symbolize what cabin they're in. its to help with rounding up kids.

but its also helpful for the numerous cabin wars when legend and warriors put on. they're team building exercises and for fun, but due to legend and warriors' prevalent rivalry, they can get a bit out of hand. much to sky's chagrin.

warriors is also in charge of any plays and etc being put on at camp. as well as any large team events in tandem with legend + seldomly sky.

sky does a bit of everything around camp, but is mostly known to help out in arts and crafts as well as being the lead pest control guy. soooo, known for cleanup and being an extra pair of patient hands.

he's also a cabin head, but only for the kids who switch to sleepaway halfway through camp. has to be shaken awake violently most of the time, as his campers are fully aware of the 4 daily naps the guy takes.

the kids adore him because he'll get rid of the skulltulas and scare off any wolfos around camp, but he also gifts them little wood carvings if they stick around to watch him work.

sky is also known to share little secrets about his coworkers to the campers, just to make sure his chaotic image is upkept someway. he enjoys being both a voice of reason and keeping the remaining counselors on their toes.

they're highly coveted and are a bit too much of a source of contention between campers sometimes, as the trading games created with them cause.... fights.

legend is the second cabin counselor, most of the time at least. sometimes twilight beats him in the counselor beat-down at the beginning week of training, but its not usual.

although legend is a bit snappy and can seem cold towards the campers, they know better. they're used to the calmer, more caring side of legend since they have to sleep in the same cabin.

and don't tell anybody, but the hot cocoa legend sneaks out from the kitchen is the best balm for nightmares.

legend hates lake duty, but is the strongest swimmer among the counselors apart from wind. but since wind is about 4'9" on a good day, legend is essentially forced into lifeguard duty.

a few other counselors might hang out on the coast or do some games with the campers, but legend and wind are usually the two keeping supervision when it comes to the lake.

usually the guy to go into town with twilight, or at least the first to volunteer, as a majority of the counselors come along anyways.

although hyrule, four, wild, and wind are considered "junior counselors," wind is the youngest and definitely treated as such. even if he's probably the more level-headed and mature one at times.

its easy for him to connect with the campers, since they're closer than age, but he finds it infuriating that they treat him more like a peer than somebody in charge.

he teaches swim lessons in the shallower parts of the lake and holds water games + fights. teaching the campers how to properly act within water and the certain things to keep in mind when doing so.

he will also take the campers on river rides in the canoes through the forest, with at least two other counselors along.

when wind was also just a camper, he played pirates in the faux-pirate ship. he met tetra here and they stayed friends, even if she remained a camper rather than apply for counselor training.

twilight is the second guy you can find getting rid of pests, as well as the one guy you should go to for bear hugs and a cuddle if you need it.

he's in charge of trail rides, horse riding lessons, and the one to plan out any excursions into the small town just outside the forest housing the camp. bit of a worrywort and more than a little overbearing according to the campers.

although, also according to the campers, he's been acting a little weird and more withdrawn than usual. plus, there's a rumor that he's been staying out after dark, who knows!

he's a good cabin head, but he doesn't know if he likes being responsible for that many kids at a time, especially since he doesn't feel like he's up to the task. tends to fail the "counselor beat-down" on purpose, unless legend gets too annoying /lh.

hyrule is at the nurse's station most of the time, but in the afternoons he goes to help out legend or wild for whatever activities they're in charge of at the time. anxious, but good at his job, and endlessly annoyed at how many times the same kid can sprain their wrist.

luckily, having trained-ish magic and being somewhat knowledgeable when it comes to actual first-aid, hyrule is able to keep the campers relatively in good health. although, they have had to send a few home from injuries he couldn't deal with.

enjoys wandering around camp and the forest, and he's good enough with any sword that he's not too worried about the local wildlife.

hyrule and wild are rather close, and tend to wander off whenever they aren't keeping track of campers. they've gotten into some.... trouble on their own.

in charge of arts and crafts and gets a little too into the creation process. he's used to helping his grandfather with blacksmithing back home and holds the campers to the same standards at times.

but you can...... only make so much with pipecleaners and pinecones. for the most part he's pretty calm and enjoys his job, but if he has to take one more boxcutter away from an eleven year old terrorizing the arts and crafts tent, he's going to lose it.

he and wild have a theory about time's funding for the camp and they use up a lot of their free time discussing it. its unknown whether or not they truly believe this, but the mounting amount of evidence they keep finding is driving the two crazy. especially since time doesn't exactly confirm or deny anything.

will occasionally help out sky with pest control + whatever, but isn't a big fan.

and that's..... i think it! or as much as im able to write right now. got more flowers to plant, you know how it is! spring is very busy. nod.

As I am an android, my mouth does not get dry, yet I drank from the bottle anyway.

The room’s interior has been plunged into azure-hued darkness.

I could hear the flapping of the nocturnal birds resting in the trees behind me.

Father’s words repeated several times within my auditory system.

Whenever I recall these words, I start to feel something, slowly.

It’s something that I’ve not been able to properly verbalize.

But now, I’m searching for a meaning within Father’s words, of which I had previously felt nothing upon hearing them. 

“Were his intentions similar to Master’s own words?”

I threw my question into the void.

I suppose that the true nature of Father’s hopes for me, was similar to Master’s own desire to treat me as if I were a fellow human being. 

What Father wanted at the time was not for me to be in a state to channel Kinari’s spirit, but for me to speak out using my own words. 

Rather than words that have been programmed into me, he must have wished to hear my words from the heart.

As I thought, I still deeply regret that I could not do that even at his deathbed.

Yes, there’s some sort of feeling of regret. Likely so. Surely, I thought.

And this sort of emotion is quite surprising in itself.

Because, as an android, I feel an emotion called ‘regret’. 

But looking back on this incident and understanding how I felt while reviewing those memories, perhaps someday I too will gain those 21 grams.

Chihiro’s cheerful voice resounded throughout the lesson room this morning.

He always took the initiative whenever it came to practicing.

As always, I put out the tablet and started to record our dance formation———

“Isn’t that a large capacity tablet? Why’s there so much data…? Plus, didn’t you say the same thing last month?”

Tao rushed in to check quickly. Chihiro pouted, cheeks puffed up, “I’m an influencer, aren’t I? Don’t tell me you forgot?!”, he retorted.

These two always have this kind of conversation all the time.

“Hahaha, well yeah, your job’s to take pics and all that. So I guess my smartphone…

Ah, right… I dropped it in the bath yesterday and it broke.” 

“Haaaaa. It’s like, soooo unbelievable that such a high-key moronic guy exists in this world!” 

Raito made an offer to do it on his behalf, but then was quickly rejected.

Kuguri gave Raito the stink-eye, as he had no intention of ever lending his own device.

“Welp, there’s no choice then. Kinyari~ can Chii twouble you to do it?”

“Understood.”

In the past eras, humans have used their eyes as a camera when photographic equipment cannot be used. Their video recordings would be burned onto their retina, be available as an output and viewed on another device.

I began to film our dance routine while looking into the mirror.

“Tao, stop. Your hand placement is off by three centimeters.”

“Tao, stop. Your arms are not fully extended.”

“Tao, stop. You mustn’t do this move from your chest, but from your shoulders.”

I added detailed annotations about our mistakes, and by the time I finished them, Chihiro would hug me and say, “Luuuuv ya, Kinyari!”

Chihiro does this more often than not. He also happily rested his cheek by my hair.

“Ahhh, you smell so nice, Kinyari~ Haaaa, you’re just the bestest, the cutest, I loooove you~” 

“Mm. Thank you.”

“Oi, Chihiro, quit messin�� around already. Keep doing that and it’d count as sexual harassment.”

“But if it’s me and Kinyari, we make a super mega cute picture together, so it’s a-okay!” 

“Eh… That so?”

Tao warned him, but Chihiro bit back.

He seemed a bit distressed after listening to Chihiro’s absurd reasoning.

Raito laughed softly as usual, saying, “I’m glad that we all get along so well.”

On the other hand, Kuguri interjected, “Nyushi, if I were to join in as well, wouldn’t it be even prettier?”

This sort of interaction between us unit members had now become the norm.

Chihiro often talked about me so lovingly, yet according to Tao, “Ain’t it because Chihiro used to be an idol otaku and likes cute things?”

Can this kind of love be classified as something that fulfills my father’s hopes and wishes that [Someone who loves you will surely appear]?

I don’t know it yet, but I have long since accepted this circumstance.

“Man, at the end of the day, I was still the one who made the most mistakes again.”

“Tao, you’d be training on your own again today, wouldn’t you? I’ll join as well so let’s do our best together.”[4]

“By the way, Kinari. I accidentally let it slip that you slept longer than usual this morning to Ushio. He seemed quite worried so if you could, please show yourself to him later to let him know.”

“Plüss, won’t you at least punish this wretch of a man for saying something so unnecessary?” 

Chihiro and Tao started to whisper amongst themselves about everyday this and that, while Raito and Kuguri, who were wiping away their sweat, also chatted for a little while. 

I’d say, “Shall we proceed to play and observe the formation video I took on my camera on another device now?”, all four of them, Kuguri—to an extent, would watch somewhat seriously. 

Thus, our discussion on how we could further improve it would then begin. 

I, for once, would like to repeat this moment an innumerable amount of times.

……The thought of it was not at all unpleasant.

“Please give it your all in singing, dancing, your idol activities and live happily!”

This is my firstmost and top priority order I needed to fulfill. It is my very core of being. 

My most important standard of behavior.

However, rather than having to meet that standard, little by little, the desire to fulfill it instead is being born.

What to call this sort of ‘emotion’, I don’t know it yet.

But, I can feel it. I know so.

Emotions that I cannot name yet will continue to grow within my heart.

Surely. Probably. Maybe. 

Someday, even…

1 - This chapter’s title name was very… difficult to word, as 肥大 in particular could be any of the words related to gaining weight/fat. In accordance with this, I used the word corpulence instead to achieve the same meaning across. 

2 - Took liberties with Chihiro’s gyaru-speak. Also yes he did say all of that part (I have screenshot receipts). 

3 - Again, Tao did actually say that. Quite literally in fact too!

4 - I don’t know who said that, but basing off the prose that followed, it seems to be Chihiro? I’m not sure if he’s ever called him anything other than Taotao so please correct me if I’m wrong here!

You're probably wondering why I've gathered you all here today. Well, I'm starting a creative fandom event!!!! Here's all you need to know!

How does it work?

There's a list of 10 different versions/eras per member of the original Team Free Will, and a list of 30 other fun (eras of) characters you'll have to include. You can print them out or write them out, then fold them up and put them into four different containers. For each day, you draw one from each container, and those are the characters you have to work with. You might have to include time or dimension travel, and some of the extra characters aren't canon.

Who can participate?

Anyone that's seen all of Supernatural (and preferably the Winchesters too) and is creative. Creative in what way? Doesn't matter! You can write a drabble, make a drawing, make a short comic, or a fanvid, whatever the hell you want, as long as it contains all four characters.

When is this happening?

July 2024!

Can I include NSFW content? What counts as NSFW content?

Yes, you can, as long as you tag it correctly and include trigger warnings up front- trigger warnings are also required for sfw works that include things like canon-typical violence etc. A kiss is not considered NSFW, but a makeout scene might- just tag correctly and you're fine.

This is a source calling blog! It is directed for kins, fictives and IRLs alike who may have problematic memories or sources.

This blog provides:

Source calling ; Searching for source mates. - Template will be added at the end of this post. This MUST be followed.

Confessions ; Source/Memory confessions. - These can be used to just get something off your chest, however if you want to rant/vent put TWs/CWs and a vent warning.

Stimboards ; 3 by 3 GIF post based on one theme. - Please be specific! It can be character, source or ship based! Feel free to request something I haven't mentioned, it may be denied though.

Playlists ; you want some bangers with a theme? — State what you're looking for, vibes, theme, genre, and what you may not want! If you do not specify you do not want smooth jazz you are at the mercy of smooth jazz for example!

Classpecting ; Class + Aspect in a Homestuck sense — ever wondered what yours would be? Give us some details on how you handle situations, who you are as a person ( fictive / kin / etc. ), etc. etc. !

Pendulum Readings ; yes or no? — Ask your yes or no question and we will ask one of the pendulums!

Aesthetic Boards ; 3 by 3 GIF/still image post based on one or more themes. - You can be specific or give a loose idea and trust the process. Can be characters, ships, aesthetics, sources.

Web Graphics Boards ; 3 by 3 (sometimes) GIF/still image post based on the prompt given. - Again, you can be specific or give a loose idea. Preferably no characters, but sources are okay. Aesthetics, colors, themes, all good.

Shitty Doodles ; a silly, silly drawing — send in your request for a drawing. 1 subject preferred, 2 max. You can specify your prompt but we do not guarantee good quality ! 5 requests at a time allowed, check the notification below to see if slots are currently open!

#1 ;; Be nice! Don’t harass anyone for any reason. If you DO NOT LIKE THIS CONTENT BLOCK US. This blog is a safe space for those who identify with problematic sources and or views, antis or those who just do not agree have plenty of safe spaces and we request you DNI.

#2 ;; We accept any form of call even if it may be considered problematic. But please keep yourself safe, do not use this blog to put yourself in danger. Anonymous is RECOMMENDED but not necessary. - Not all requests on this blog have to be considered "problematic"

#3 ;; Source/fictional age gaps are A-Okay but IRL ones are NOT. Minors should only be interacting with minors and majors only with majors for safety. (Example; Body age: 19 Looking for: anyone over 18.) If ages are not in calls I will ask for resubmission or it will be deleted.

#4 ;; There is no limit on how many entries you send and you may send them one after the other (they just won't be posted at the same time). Even if you have multiple kins/etc from one source, only one will be tagged. (On the note of tagging, all problematic calls will be tagged as such so they will not meet a super wide audience - this is for the comfort of others and safety of you)

#5 ;; All questions, requests, and calls may be asked in the ask box! Because other people may have similar questions.
